Introducing: Your Competitor Tracker

Tussell’s Competitor Tracker makes it even easier to monitor competitor activity, track expiring awards, and surface warm leads - all in one place.

🔎 Looking for something specific?

What can you do with the Competitor Tracker?

  1. Add competitors to your saved ‘Competitors’ list, and instantly see their live contracts.

  2. Monitor competitor activity at a glance via weekly tiles that surface their latest wins, new awards, and upcoming expirations from the previous Monday to Sunday.

  3. Identify warm leads by tracking expiring competitor contracts in a centralised view.

  4. Save key opportunities to ‘Saved Contracts’ for easy access and future follow-ups.

  5. Refine your search by excluding irrelevant contracts.

  6. See which contracts your competitors hold with your saved target accounts.

  7. Filter & export competitor insights to focus on what matters most for your BD strategy.

Getting Started with the Competitor Tracker

1) Adding suppliers to your ‘Competitors’ list

When you first access the Competitor Tracker, a pop-up prompt will ask you to enter your competitors - add as many competitors as you want to start tracking their activity.

Not sure who your competitors are? Get in touch with your Account Manager, and we’ll help you identify the suppliers you should be tracking.

2) Exploring Competitor Insights

Once you've added competitors, the Tracker will populate with two core insight areas: Competitor Activity and Expiring Contracts. Let's explore both.

Competitor Activity

At the top of the Competitor Tracker, you'll find a series of weekly activity tiles showing competitor contract wins, new invoices and framework awards.

This offers a quick, scrollable overview of recent activity in your Competitors List - making it easier to spot new trends, react to wins, and identify follow-up opportunities in real time.

Note: This data reflects the most recent Monday - Sunday period.

Expiring Contracts

Below the activity tiles, you’ll find a complete view of awarded contracts held by your competitors - helping you build a forward-looking pipeline of opportunities. From here, you can:

  • Filter contracts by expiry within the next 6, 12, or 36 months

  • Save relevant opportunities to your 'Saved Contracts' in My Hub

  • Exclude contracts that aren’t relevant to your pipeline (you can always restore these under 'Manage Excluded Contracts')

  • Focus your view by filtering contracts held with your 'Saved Buyers'

If you need to update your list just head back to the top of the Competitor Tracker and select 'Edit my competitors list' to add or remove competitors at any time.

Using your Competitors list across Tussell

Beyond the dedicated Competitor Tracker, you can filter other key tabs including Awarded Contracts, Spend Data, Frameworks and Suppliers by your saved Competitors list:

In Awarded Contracts, apply the competitors filter to display live and historic contracts secured by your saved competitors.

In Spend Data, apply the competitors filter to analyse transactions between key buyers and your saved competitors. Use this to spot trends, assess market share, and identify possible growth accounts.

In Suppliers, apply your competitors filter to conduct high-level competitor research.

In Frameworks, apply the competitors filter to see which frameworks your competitors are active on - and where they’re winning work.

FAQs

Q: What time period does the Weekly Activity cover?

The weekly activity tiles display competitor activity from the previous Monday to Sunday. They refresh each Monday with any new wins, updates, or expiring contracts from that 7-day period.

Q: Why is my Competitor Tracker showing 0 contracts?

If no contracts appear after you’ve filled your ‘Competitors’ list, check the following:

  1. Have you added competitors? If not, go to the Competitors Tracker to enter them.

  2. Are your filters too restrictive? Try adjusting expiry date or buyer filters.

  3. Are there expiring contracts? The Competitor Tracker focuses on upcoming expirations - if no contracts are due to expire soon, fewer results may appear.

Q: Can I track competitor contracts that aren’t expiring soon?

The Competitor Tracker highlights awarded contracts set to expire within the next 6, 12, or 36 months, enabling you to proactively plan and build your sales pipeline.

To build out a longer-term pipeline or to find historic competitor wins, apply the competitors filter to a query in the Awarded Contracts tab.

Q: How can I remove a competitor from my list?

You can update your competitor list at any time from the Competitor Tracker. Simply click on 'Edit my competitors list' and select 'Delete' next to any competitor you'd like to remove.
